About Lansing Linoleum

Sgt. Glenn Lansing mustered out of the Army after WWII and came to Portland, Oregon where his older brother Mick was an installer for Black Frost, one of the biggest flooring contractors in the city. Mick trained his younger brother to install linoleum, and Glenn was a natural: good with his hands, creative, and meticulous.

In 1948, he founded his own firm, Lansing Linoleum Company, which grew rapidly during the post-war building boom. Glenns policy was to hire other craftsmen whose workmanship he respected, but Glenn believed in continued education. As new products were introduced, Glenn supported additional professional training for the Lansing Linoleum mechanics in order to maintain the high quality of installations.

Son Don and daughter Kathleen, who assumed company management after Glenns passing in 1982, and Mark Urell, company president since 2003, are equally committed to training.

Careful attention to the manufacturing specifications of each new material is a hallmark of todays installations, insuring our customers the best possible outcome for every job.
